Some people ARE genetically pre-disposed to inherit the folks fatness, but an active lifestyle through exercise & clean eating influences the mysterious FTO gene, leading to a 30% less likely chance of developing obesity over their sedentary counterparts. So basically, you can't change your parents, but you can most certainly change your outcome in terms of health and fitness.
